The FOT

The Federal Office of Transport (FOT) is the federal authority responsible for public transport and rail freight transport. With roots dating back to the 19th century, the FOT currently employs around 360 people across 5 divisions.

Organisation FOT

The Federal Office of Transport (FOT) is one of the seven federal offices that form part of the Federal Department of the Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications (DETEC). The FOT is structured according to its core tasks and is organised into five divisions, namely policy, infrastructure, financing, safety, and business administration and organisation. It also has an audit section, which is directly subordinate to the director.

Address and location

The Federal Office of Transport (FOT) is located with other DETEC offices on a campus in Ittigen, a Bern suburb, in immediate proximity to the RBS Papiermühle railway station.
