Research and innovation

The FOT promotes research and innovation. In this way, it aims to make public transport and rail freight even more efficient, as well as even more customer- and eco-friendly.

The FOT spends around six billion francs a year on public transport and rail freight.

By promoting research and innovation, the FOT aims to help optimise costs in its areas of responsibility. It also strives to further improve safety, energy efficiency and environmental compatibility.

The FOT invests around 10 to 15 million francs annually in research and innovation. This is about 0.2% of its total expenditure.
