Expansion step 2025

On 9 February 2014, 62% of the Swiss electorate voted in favour of the proposal to fund and expand the rail infrastructure (FERI). As part of this expansion programme, Parliament approved the CHF 6.4 billion  Expansion step 2025 under the rail infrastructure strategic development programme. It will run parallel to the ZEB programme.

Expansion step 2025 will reduce bottlenecks in the SBB and private rail network and expand capacity, in response to increased demand on the railways.
