Centre of competence for railway operations
In railway operations, we are responsible for safety decisions at the human-technology interface. Primarily we are concerned with the operating regulations, which are binding for all railway companies in public transport, and we adapt them continuously in line with technological developments. As part of the safety authorisation / certification procedure, we test the plausibility of safety management systems. Our area of responsibility also includes enforcing the legislation on working hours in public transport. We decide when and how operating regulations may, exceptionally, deviate from general rules, and we also assess the operational aspects of planning permissions and safety supervision.
