Centre of competence for electrical installations in public transport systems
When trains arrive at our stations, the electricity is already there. Ninety-nine percent of railways in Switzerland are electric. This means that a large number of power stations and substations, an extensive network of transmission lines and catenary systems, a return current circuit and safety and control systems are needed.
Safety regulations are in place which cover the construction, operation and maintenance of these installations. We ensure that they comply with the regulations by means of planning approvals, operating licences, type approvals and on-site inspections. We also keep the regulations constantly updated to reflect the latest technological developments.
